Camp Skit:
The week right after school ended was our church's girls camp week. I was able to go to camp with my young women for a couple days and it was so much fun! I really enjoy spending time with the girls. And not hearing about military, Star Wars, or Indiana Jones stuff for a while was kinda nice! Things were going really smoothly at camp...until the DRAMA started! And by drama I mean thunderstorms/tornadoes (not some chick fight!). Us leaders were informed of the severe weather heading our way (which had just wreaked havoc on our hometown 2 hours west of where we were camping). We ended our campfire devotional early and decided to get all the girls back to their cabins. As we were arriving, the camp staff was frantically trying to get all of us into bathrooms....there were reports of 4 tornadoes in our area! So, we crammed into our bathroom while the storm raged on. After about and hour or so, we were allowed to leave the bathrooms (which were spider infested I might add!!) Whew. The next morning, after (not) sleeping through the thunder....we awoke to find some muddy trails...but no downed trees or damaged buildings. The camp director said he was surprised we weren't hit....because the other camps, located just north and south of us, sustained severe damage. Apparently the storm split and went around us?! We were not surprised....the Lord answers prayers!
When I returned home....I realized just how powerful those storms were. Our area was hit pretty bad....and a tornado was confirmed. Roof shingles were blown every which way. Trees snapped in half! And it looks like 50-75% of the houses in our neighborhood lost fences or parts of fences. And that was only a baby tornado (I think it's called F-1?).
The aftermath:
Fortunately only a small portion of our back fence was taken down
The rest of these pictures are of the three houses directly across the street from us. This was the view from my front door last week. Amazingly we didn't loose a single tree....only a branch (albeit large) off of one.
If you look closely, you can see the stump from this tree....snapped and all ragged!

How fun!! That just what I would have wanted tornados at girl's camp. I'm so glad Heavenly Father kept you all safe. What a good reminder that He answers our prayers.
