Trey es tres

Treyson turned 3! He had been looking forward to his birthday for weeks...since Nixan's back in January. He talked and talked of his cake, balloons, and going to Chuck-e-Cheese. But, as luck would have it, poor Treyson was super sick on his birthday. Bummer. His nose was raw from being wiped with tissues over and over. His voice was a raspy, nasal sound. Even his eyes were draining goopey junk. Poor kiddo.

The only thing Treyson enjoyed on his big day were talking to his grandparents, blowing out his candles, and eating cake. The cake was a big deal. He knew exactly what he wanted. He pointed to a picture of it. I kept thinking he'd really rather one of those funfetti cakes. But no. He was insistent. And he HAD to have a #3 candle. So funny what kids find important!

As a public service, we opted not to take our sick kids to Chuck-e-Cheese. Instead we indulged our adult craving and used Trey's birthday as an excuse to go to Rudy's for dinner. We love that place...fell in love with it in Albuquerque. Man were we stoked when we found out they had a location here!! Smoked turkey and brisket...delightful. I think TJ approved.

This last picture shows how much Treyson has grown up. Not because he is standing on a stool, but because he is becoming so independent. He dressed himself this day. Notice the shorts (it's 40*outside!) and the inside-out shirt (see the tag on the left side?). He did it all by himself though and he was so proud. I had to take his picture. Another growing up thing: TJ has decided he likes going on the potty. He has been accident free for days....if you only count #1. #2's....well....those still end up in the pull-up. We're workin' on it...
