The Neighborhood Entrepreneur

Carson has always loved art...especially creating or designing his own masterpieces. Nick and I have encouraged him and tell him frequently that he is really good at it. So, Carson has added "artist" to the list of things he wants to be when he grows up. Of course he asked Nick, "Why didn't you become an artist?" (Nick is a great artist, by the way). He responded with some comment about artists having a hard time selling their work, which means they don't make a lot of money, and when you have 3 kids, you need a job that pays better....

Well, apparently all Carson heard was that artists sell their art. So, all of a sudden, Carson started drawing/coloring pictures like crazy. I asked him what he was doing and he said he was going to sell his pictures to his friends in the neighborhood...but honestly I didn't take him seriously. It wasn't until I was visiting with one of my friends (a day or so later) outside in our backyard that I found out Carson had asked her to buy one of his "masterpieces" for $1. 00. Smart, my friend went into negotiations and they finally settled the price at 75c. Here's a couple of his pictures (notice his written sales price):
