B.Y.U. ----- Bold Yet Unnerved!

Ugh! Our bold, oh-so-good, Cougars got unnerved last night. And by the horned frogs, no less. It was a pretty sad day for Darwin. And we didn't take it too well either! The score was totally a bummer...but fortunately, going to the game was not. The boys loved it and I will confess that I LOVED it too. That is definitely something I miss from my BYU days...going to the football stadium. There's just some sort of adrenaline-inducing energy that comes from sitting on a crowded bench with fellow fans...screaming, jumping, clapping and nail-biting. Not to mention all the awesome band tunes that make you want to dance. TJ was dancing most the night--the kid loved the music! Carson tried really hard to pay attention to who was on offense (or defense). At one point, he told me that he was no longer cheering for BYU, but for the purple team because they were winning. This, of course, was followed by a quick lesson on being a loyal fan. Nixan just enjoyed the environment...good thing that included treats. I think that's what games mean to him--food. (Isn't that what we give out to kids at the end of their soccer/basketball/baseball games?)

Well...despite the loss, we had a great time. The highlight was meeting up with old and new friends. We were able to visit with some old friends from Virginia that we hadn't seen in a few years. Carson was so excited to see his old friend Mitchell! Nick even visited with an old mission friend! And somehow I managed to meet (for the first time) my brother's girlfriend. She plays for BYU's women's soccer team and happened to be in town for her soccer game. Somehow, in the sea of people at the stadium, I saw her. Nice to finally meet you Katie! Oh...and the best news of the night? Katie told us that her team beat TCU! Yay!! At least the lady cougars were representin' yesterday! Go BYU!

As you can see, neither TJ or Nixan wanted this picture...but I demanded one be taken! And taking pictures was tricky...where do you stand in a crowded stadium to get a good shot??

Our good old friends...Jackson and Mitchell
