Discovery Shuttle Launch

Finally the pictures I promised from the shuttle launch. We have to thank our friend Andrew for the pictures because I forgot to pack our own camera...so THANKS Andrew for these great shots!
Here we are waiting for launch:

Then, right at dusk, 3...2...1...Blast off! (That's the fire lighting the sky...not the setting sun!)

And there it is!

It looks like the shuttle is taking a crooked path...that's just an optical illusion as the shuttle moved upwards and eastwards out over the Atlantic ocean. The setting sun created some really cool colors on the smoke clouds.

When the shuttle was out of sight and the smoke trail began to break up...the smoke clouds turned red, white, and blue. Pretty fitting and very cool to witness!

Awesome!!! I'm so glad everything went through. The weather changed on us and so we weren't able to see it up close....but...the next day it launched and we saw it from miles away. It is spectacular even at that location!! What a great experience to be so close....LOUD!! :)
