A Quiet House

A quiet house is normally a dream-come-true. Don't we all love a peacefully quiet home? It normally means the kids are content and the kitchen is closed. Nice and quiet. But that is not the case today. Today it IS quiet, but it is not NICE!! Today was the day that Grandpa and Grandma Allen, Uncle Kage, Aunt Christy, and Stevie left. This morning was too quiet. Stevie wasn't asking to watch "Zach and Cody" on the Disney channel. Kage didn't help make breakfast. Christy didn't offer to get Treyson dressed. Grandma and Kage didn't go running with me. And Grandpa didn't offer a single military story for Carson to re-tell to his friends at school. There will be no games with Grandma this afternoon. So, we're sad.
On the way home from preschool, I asked Nixan, "Well...wasn't it nice to play with your friends again? Didn't you miss them?" He said, flat-out, "No. I like my friend Uncle Kage and Grandpa. They're my best friends to play with." And then there was the comment Carson made this morning, "How does Grandpa know all those true stories? Did he read a book? I like all of the true stories." For any of you who know my father, you already know that he is the supreme story-teller. Thanks Dad...now my "Fredricka and Guggenheimer" stories will never live up!

The only good thing about their departure is that they left behind some great memories. (Oh...and I did get a free haircut and color...so that was pretty great too. Thanks Christy!)
The Mesquite Rodeo!
Launching a rocket...
(don't hate me Christy...I know you weren't feeling well, but the picture was too cute not to post!)

Awe! I'm sad too for the less quietness! So fun your family was able to visit! We need to come visit you - and it appears there are many fun things to do in Texas!

I miss having your family right across the street. I always remember how your Dad would come home and totally dip and kiss your mom. You've got such fun parents.

How sad. Your story totally pulled at my heartstrings. I'm sorry it's too quiet. It's even harder when your kids are missing their fun guests too. It looks like you had a blast with your family!
