Happy Birthday!

Carson is now 8 years old! How can he be that hold?! (How can I be that old?)! As is tradition in our house, we asked Carson how he wanted to celebrate his birthday. We gave him lots of fun choices....a friends party, taking a couple friends to indoor play-places, going to a baseball game, going to the State Fair....and he chose ....drum roll....
...the Texas State Fair!

Also Known As:

And it was so much fun! We all had a great time. Nick had Monday off, so we pulled the boys out of school way early and headed to the fair. It was a nice, over-cast day...so not too hot. And it was the best fair I've ever been too. I guess these Texans really know how to do it right! Except for the Fried Butter. That didn't taste so great. Hard to believe it won a prize. Yuck. The Fried Peaches and Cream, on the other hand, was AWESOME!

Here the boys are with Boris III, one massive porker:
For his cake, Carson wanted the Marine Corps Emblem...so Nick decorated as best he could with only one piping bag/tip (I seriously have no cake decorating tools!). I think it turned out great!
He was SUPER excited to open presents this year! He talked about it for days...even asking me several times if I was ready (i.e. had I gotten him gifts) for his birthday! :)
Happy with his loot:
(Thanks to Grandmas and Grandpas for presents in the mail!)

Happy Birthday Carson!!!

The marines...hmmm...only the elite for Carson I guess! :) I love the spread and thank goodness you were READY!! That is so cute! He is one great kiddo. We wish we could be there for his baptism. Now, is Nick READY!?! (Although he does get a pre-baptism prize for the awesome cake)

I can't believe you even tried that fried butter stuff. Just thinking of it puts that yucky lump high in my throat!! How fun though!!

Happy 8th Birthday- that's a BIG one!! I'm glad you guys all had fun at the State Fair. We didn't try the fried butter (you'll have to tell me how that even works...) but we did try the fried peaches and cream, and it was delish!!
