Pack Meeting
At this pack meeting Carson was awarded his Webelos badge. Carson has had some really awesome Webelos leaders and they have really helped him learn new things and achieve each requirement.
This was also the first pack meeting for Nixan to receive awards. He earned his Bobcat and 5 belt-loops. He was soo excited to finally get some of that belt-loop bling on his belt!
Funny story. When we first moved to AZ, I wondered often about why the orchard tree trunks were painted white. I kept meaning to google it, but I just assumed it was some sort of pesticide or something for the citrus. Well, after the first week of school, Carson informed me that the paint just acted like a sunscreen for the trees. Some kid on the bus told him that when he asked. I was totally skeptical about that and told Carson that I thought someone was pulling his chain. Turns out I was wrong and the informant on the bus was RIGHT! Who knew white latex paint had the power to protect the trees and save the citrus fruit? Good to know.
As a service project for our community, our pack meeting painted citrus trees throughout the neighborhood. It was a hot, Saturday morning, but such a fun project! No worries about paint splatter outside...so the kids could really do this project with very minimal help from the adults.
Here you can see the old paint being updated with a new coat:
