End of Year Celebrations

Both Carson and Nixan had truly wonderful teachers this year. Carson's teacher took interest in his interests...even coming to watch him in one of his soccer games. On one of their field trips, a tour guide told them about a Veterans Memorial on site...only to tell them there was no time to go over and see it. Well, Carson's teacher knew that that site was probably the most interesting to her military-history-loving student. So what did she do? During their lunch break, she personally took him over to the memorial so that he could see and appreciate it. How many teachers do that? Take the time to make one child's field trip perfect? She was wonderful...it is no surprise that Carson came home from school on his last day of 2nd grade with tears in his eyes.

Here he is with his honor roll certificate and trophy (for receiving the top math award):

I had to include this picture of Carson's classroom...talk about diversity!!

Nixan's teacher was just as kind...she always looked out for him. I know teachers aren't supposed to have "pets," but I think Nixan just might have been one. At the beginning of the year, Nixan cared more about having good behavior than he did about learning...but his teacher changed that quickly. Although off to a slow start...Nixan is now reading above grade level and excels in math. I know it's because of his awesome kindergarten teacher!
